Event Diaries: A Hmong Cuisine Holiday Soirée

Earlier this month, we celebrated the holiday season with our community members during our Holiday Social event, where we enjoyed Hmong food and cultural performances while connecting with one another over fun youth-led activities.

💃🏻 Traditional Dance Performances by HMAAC Dance Teams

A major highlight of the event was a series of traditional dances performed by the talented young dancers of the Hmong American Association of Colorado (HMAAC) dance teams. Their vibrant costumes and passion captivated the audience, bringing to life the beauty of Hmong culture.

🥘 Hmong Cuisine by Yum Tum Fusion

Guests were treated to a delicious spread of Hmong dishes, catered by Yum Tum Fusion, a newly-opened family-owned food truck that blends traditional Asian flavors with a modern twist.

Trace Yang, the Owner of Yum Tum Fusion, also shared her touching and heartfelt journey on why she founded the business. For Trace, food is not just nourishment but an expression of love and care for others. Her story and passion inspired us all, reminding us of the power of food to connect and uplift.

🎨 Crafting Connections with the Youth Leadership Collective

At the crafts table, led by two of our students from the Youth Leadership Collective, attendees participated in activities that encouraged creativity and connection. We hope everyone enjoyed making their rainbow loom friendship bracelets!

🏅 Wellness Grant Awards

We also honored the recipients of our inaugural Wellness Grant–hear more about their stories here!

Reflections from Team AGI

This event would not have been possible without the incredible support of our community—from the 120+ attendees (our largest community event this year!), to the performers, student leaders, and staff who made it all happen. We’re so grateful for each of you who joined us and contributed to this unforgettable celebration.

As we look ahead to a new year, we remain inspired by the strength and spirit of our powerful AGI community. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us. Here’s to many more moments of joy and connection!

About Asian Girls Ignite

Founded in October 2020, Asian Girls Ignite is a non-profit organization that provides educational programs for AANHPI girls and gender-expansive youth to celebrate their individual and collective power. We use storytelling to empower the next generation to write their futures in their own voice. Our programs and events nurture social-emotional learning to help our students grow in resilience, empathy, and self-awareness.

Our Event Diaries series was created to share meaningful moments with our community. We are incredibly grateful to have the support of our families and community members behind us. Sharing an inside look at our events is just one of the many ways we want to keep the AGI community informed of the impact of their support.
