CHINESE PORK SPARE RIBS
(FROM LAURA Y.)

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup hoisin sauce

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons ketchup

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • 1 tablespoon five-spice powder

  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh garlic or garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

  • 2 racks pork spare ribs individually sliced into single ribs

Steps:

  1. Mix together the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, ketchup, honey, lemon juice, five-spice powder, garlic and ginger in a shallow glass dish. Place ribs in the dish and coat with mixture. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for 3 hours or more, up to overnight.

  2. When ready to cook, preheat the oven to 375 F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil and place an greased wire rack in it and spread the ribs over the rack. Cover with aluminum foil and roast until tender (about an hour).

  3. Remove foil and brush ribs with marinade. Increase heat to 450 F and roast until charred, glazed, and sticky, about 20 minutes longer, rotating ribs and basting with marinade once more during cooking. Let rest 10 minutes, then serve.
